ABOUT CASSARINO LAW FIRM

Ben J. Cassarino, Jr., Esq. now brings over 25 years of general and specific experience to a new law firm serving the greater Charlotte area with a concentration on commercial real estate transactions and land use and zoning matters.  Mr. Cassarino is excited to enter the next phase of his career bringing his expertise to more clients and serving the local community.

 

 

Early in 2007, Mr. Cassarino became the President and General Counsel for The Catellus Group, a small boutique real estate development and investment firm in Charlotte.  He was responsible for operations, oversight and compliance in all areas of the Company including acquisitions, due diligence, construction, management, permitting, approvals, development, dispositions and strategy.  During his tenure at Catellus, Mr. Cassarino oversaw tremendous growth in development activity and company revenue.  Even at the height of the economic recession, Catellus experienced it’s highest revenue growth.  In 2012, Mr. Cassarino was honored to receive the award for Outstanding Solo Corporate Counsel by the Charlotte Business Journal and the Association of Corporate Counsel.

 

Prior to joining the Catellus Group, Mr. Cassarino was the Vice President and General Counsel of Conservation by Design, a South Carolina real estate development company where he was responsible for not only all aspects of real estate development including site selection, contracting, due diligence, design, permitting, approvals and disposition, but also representing national and regional home builders in the York County, SC area.  Most notably, he obtained site plan approval on an ocean front residential development with federal wetlands and endangered species on site. 

His past work experience also includes private practice with an emphasis on real property tax litigation, commercial and residential real estate, commercial transactions, land use and zoning, as well as commercial and industrial finance.  He was counsel to County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency and successfully closed on a $178 million Monroe County General Obligation Bond issue as Underwriter’s Counsel. 

 

In addition, Mr. Cassarino was a Judicial Law Clerk for the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division.  He attended the State University of New York at Albany and Western New England College, School of Law, where he graduated with high honors.  More recently, Mr. Cassarino received the 2012 Outstanding Solo Corporate Counsel Award by the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Charlotte Business Journal.
